The Grand Blue Mile was created by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Drake Relays to encourage healthy habits and celebrate personal achievement. Held annually since 2010, the Grand Blue Mile has hosted more than 40,000 participants from 36 states, six countries, and four continents.
The annual event brings friends and families together to take the first step toward a future of better health through a one-mile street run in Downtown Des Moines suited for all ages and abilities.

This year, again we are excited to team with “HOPE Against Trafficking”, a residential recovery program for adult female survivors of human trafficking. This run/walk will not only provide runners and walkers the opportunity to network and meet surrounding neighbors and businesses in the community. The long term goal is to continue to have an annual run/walk event and reach out to non-profit organizations such as Sanctum House - to help expand our vision to bridge gaps and promote health and wellness on most socio-economic levels.
