2023 KJ's 5K for Mental Health and Animal Rescue

KJ's 5k is a fun run/walk held on the natural surfaced trails at Portage Lakes State Park. The chip-timed run includes a t-shirt if registered by the deadline, medals for all finishers, prizes for First Second and Third place Adult male & female, and First Second and third for youth. There will also be prizes for the largest team, and the fastest team (calculated based on the top 5 finishers on each team).
This is a family friendly and pet-friendly event, so bring the kids and dog for a fun morning in nature.
The event is rain-or-shine. Because the 5k is completely off-road and on natural surfaced trails, crosses sand, and crosses several boardwalks, care must be taken on the trail, particularly after or during rain, and the course is difficult for strollers or people with limited mobility.

Rugged Maniac is like recess for grown-ups, except our playground has a 3-story water slide, trampolines, and a fire jump, and there's a huge festival right in the middle of everything with a DJ and plenty of beer! Sounds amazing, right?! Here's how it works:
THE FESTIVAL
The 5,000-person party starts at 8:30 a.m. with a DJ on the main stage, booths giving away free stuff, all kinds of interactive games (mechanical bulls, dance-offs, stein-hoisting, pie-eating…), and tasty food and beer to keep you fueled all day. The best part? The games are completely FREE, no ticket required, so even your least adventurous friends can join the party!
THE PLAYGROUND
But the real fun happens out on the playground — our 3-mile course packed with 20+ epic obstacles designed to both challenge and thrill Maniacs of all fitness levels, from couch potatoes to marathoners. The course opens at 9 a.m. but you'll select a specific time to run when you buy your tickets. If you're a late sleeper, that means you can wake up at noon, run at 1:45 p.m., and then party the rest of the day! Or if you're the competitive type, join the 9 a.m. "Elite Heat" to race other speedsters for a chance to be crowned the winner!
Each time slot is limited to just 200 Maniacs each, so grab your friends and reserve your spot before it sells out!

Come join us at the 5th annual event to honor the legacy of Lauren McCluskey, a student-athlete from Pullman, WA who was tragically murdered on the University of Utah campus in October 2018. All proceeds will go to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation, which supports campus safety, amateur athletics, and animal welfare.
The live race will take place on September 30, 2023 in Pullman, WA and will offer a 5k, a 10k, and a kids 1k Fun Run. If you aren't able to travel to our live event, we will also offer a virtual 5k and 10k race from September 1st - September 30th. Compete individually or form a team with 4-6 friends!
